The Production Supervisor is responsible for managing daily operations of the production team to ensure production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are met. This role oversees staff, coordinates activities, and drives improvements to efficiency, output, and product quality in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Mandatory Requirements

- Onsite presence required (5 days per week).

Key Responsibilities
Engineering / Technical Responsibilities
- Use SolidWorks CAD to create electrical/mechanical drawings and schematics in compliance with customer specifications, safety requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
- Communicate project technical needs to the Operations Manager.
- Create and maintain necessary engineering documentation.
- Create specifications for electrical/mechanical systems and components.
- Provide status reports to the Operations Manager.
- Design, test, and analyze electrical/mechanical systems and components to ensure compatibility and compliance.
- Provide electrical/mechanical engineering support throughout the full project lifecycle.
- Ensure production is performed in compliance with customer specifications, industry standards, company policies, and contract timelines.
Team Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise and lead a team of production leads and production workers to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Schedule and assign work to production staff for optimal resource allocation.
- Train and mentor new employees; support ongoing development for existing staff.
- Ensure staff compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Manage employee competency and attendance through the system.
- Present relevant communications during the 7:00 AM morning meeting (one-point lessons, quality red card alerts, and leadership communications).
- Record attendance for all team members present at the 7:00 AM morning meeting.
- Escalate unplanned absenteeism and tardiness to the immediate supervisor.
- Organize and track tool assignments and replacements with support from area team leaders.
- Coordinate with Quality for collection and replacement of tools under calibration.
- Coordinate and track assignment of tool bags and uniforms; trigger tool replacements based on tool stock status.
Production Planning & Scheduling
- Monitor production schedules and ensure deadlines are met.
- Collaborate with the Production Manager to create and adjust production plans.
- Oversee production activities to achieve targets for output, efficiency, and quality.
- Escalate blocking issues that could delay completion of builds to the immediate supervisor.
- Coordinate with material management on material criticalities to support production activities.
Quality Control
- Ensure products meet quality standards and specifications.
- Conduct regular inspections of production processes; identify and correct issues.
- Work with the Quality team to address non-conformities and implement corrective actions.
- Review daily that all Manufacturing Inspection Plans (MIPs) are completed correctly (serialized tooling info, expiration dates, and current documentation matrix revisions).
- Ensure all drawings in the assigned work area are the latest revision based on the Station Documentation Revision Checklist provided by Engineering.
- Drive closure of open inspection findings in the assigned work area and ensure rework is performed to appropriate Company quality standards. Escalate issues requiring support as needed.
- Notify the immediate supervisor as soon as the product is ready for inspection/buyback (after verifying the master inspection defect list is complete and workable items are done).
- Create NCR requests with support from the area team leader to track and manage nonconforming materials in the production area.
- Follow up and coordinate closure of open non-conformities, including required materials and special tools.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing safety protocols and regulatory standards.
- Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Promote a culture of safety within the production team.
- Manage incident investigations and interface with the HSE manager to complete incident management processes.
Troubleshooting & Problem Solving
- Identify and resolve production problems, delays, or defects.
- Coordinate with maintenance staff to address equipment malfunctions.
- Analyze production data and recommend process improvements to enhance productivity.
Inventory & Materials Management
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure timely supply of materials needed for production.
- Coordinate with supply chain/warehouse teams to ensure availability of required resources.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare and update daily, weekly, and monthly production reports tracking performance and key metrics.
- Maintain accurate records related to production performance, employee attendance, and incident reports.
- With support of the area team leader, collect and define people performance evaluations and collaborate with the Production Manager on classifications, promotions, and reassignments.
- Support end-of-year employee evaluation processes with the Production Manager.
Required Skills / Knowledge
- 3–5 years prior supervisory or managerial experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment (preferred).
- Prior experience assembling and managing a team of facility support associates.
- Highly organized.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel and SAP skills.
- SolidWorks CAD experience for electrical/mechanical drawings and schematics (per customer specs and applicable standards/policies).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
- Microsoft Project is a plus.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED (mandatory).
- Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (preferred).
