JOB SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the Nashville facility, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, assisting with month-end close activities, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and compliance requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and post journal entries accurately and timely.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
- Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and management reports.
- Analyze account activity and investigate variances between actual and budgeted results.
- Support audits by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
- Assist with sales tax, use tax, and property tax reporting requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and automate routine tasks.
- Partner with operations and other departments to resolve accounting issues.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Understanding of GAAP and fundamental accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including Pivot Tables and lookup functions.
- Experience with ERP or accounting software systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- 1-3 years of accounting experience preferred.
- Manufacturing accounting experience preferred.
- Progress toward CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict month-end deadlines.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and read complex financial documentation.
