Job summary:
Location: On-site in Fremont, CA
The Level 1 Information System Engineer is responsible for developing and supporting internal software systems used in manufacturing and logistics environments. This position focuses on implementing, maintaining, and customizing Windows-based applications, as well as supporting system-related issues on the shop floor. Work may involve both new development and modification of existing tools to meet internal operational needs.
This position is part of the Information Technology Engineering (ITE) team. The team is responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting internal software systems to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and quality of manufacturing and logistics processes. Their work enables rapid development, testing, and deployment of high-quality applications tailored to internal needs. The team also delivers database solutions, integrates systems, and collaborates with stakeholders to improve operational workflows.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and customize internal Windows-based applications to support manufacturing and logistics operations.
- Assist in implementing new features or improving existing systems to align with evolving internal requirements.
- Create and optimize SQL database solutions, including stored procedures and custom functions for efficient data handling and reporting.
- Collaborate with engineers, operations teams, and other stakeholders to gather requirements, troubleshoot issues, and deliver system enhancements.
- Generate user documentation and provide training to support effective system adoption.
- Provide technical support for shop-floor systems, labeling tools, and logistics-related software, including basic system and data analysis.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the team's goals.
Required skills:
- Basic programming knowledge in .NET, C#, Java, Python, or PHP.
- Exposure to front-end development technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is a plus.
- Familiarity with SQL query development, stored procedures, and general database concepts.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Good verbal and written communication skills for internal collaboration and documentation.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
Education and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related technical field
- Min. 1-3 years of experience in software development, application support, or system/ database engineering
- Familiarity with internal business system workflows in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
Physical requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to access and navigate various departments within the organization’s facilities
