About the Role
QualStaff Resources is seeking a Business Development Manager to support the continued growth of our Life Sciences & Technology division. This role is central to acquiring new clients, expanding partnerships, and driving revenue across biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device, diagnostics, semiconductor, engineering, and advanced technology sectors throughout Southern California and select national markets.
This is an exempt position that requires significant field engagement, with a minimum of 60% of the time and depending on business demands, 80% or more spent on client-facing activities, onsite meetings, networking, and industry event participation in the field. Evening, early mornings and occasional weekend engagements may be required as part of building and maintaining strong client relationships.
A key advantage of this role is our Client Relations Delivery Team, which manages recruiting execution, candidate submissions, scheduling, and operational workflows, allowing the Business Development Manager to focus fully on market development, relationship building, and revenue generation.

What You’ll Do
- Conduct onsite meetings, client visits, networking, and industry events for at least 60% of your time and during peak business cycles, up to 80% , including periodic evening & early morning engagements
- Develop and execute sales strategies to acquire new clients in Life Sciences, Technology, and Engineering
- Lead discovery calls, client presentations, and capability meetings to assess hiring needs
- Strengthen and grow existing client accounts through consistent follow-up and proactive relationship management
- Partner closely with the Client Relations Delivery Team to ensure excellent service and timely candidate delivery
- Present workforce solutions across direct hire search, contract staffing, payrolling, and RPO models
- Manage pipelines, forecasting, and activity tracking within BullhornOne and automated workflows
- Represent QualStaff at industry events (Biocom, LifeHR, VPHR, StartUp SD, etc.), including evening events
- Stay current on labor market trends, competitive insights, and hiring intelligence
What We’re Looking For
- 4 years of business development, sales, or account management experience (staffing preferred)
- Demonstrated success in consultative selling, closing new business, and building long-term partnerships
- Familiarity with biotech, med-tech, diagnostics, engineering, technology, or semiconductor sectors
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- Strong organizational and follow-through abilities
- Experience with CRM/ATS systems (BullhornOne preferred)
- Reliable transportation for client visits and local travel
- Ability to excel in an exempt role requiring a minimum of 60% field-based engagement and, depending on business needs, up to 80% including evening & early morning networking
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $70,000 – $85,000
- Uncapped Commission Plan with first-year earning potential of $100,000
