What are the responsibilities and job description for the Welder position at Quality Electrical Systems?
Overview
The Welder is responsible for fabricating and welding metal aluminum boxes for industrial electrical control panels, as well as performing structural welding to build frames for E-House projects. The role requires proficiency in multiple welding techniques, the ability to read and interpret blueprints, and adherence to strict quality and safety standards. Candidates must pass a weld test and demonstrate skills with TIG, MIG, and arc welding on various gauges and heavy tubing.
Key Responsibilities
- Weld metal components using TIG, MIG, arc, and oxy-fuel welding techniques
- Perform structural welding (4G, 3G) for E-House frames
- Measure, cut, and prepare materials according to project specifications
- Read and interpret blueprints prior to starting each project
- Source and prepare materials for welding projects
- Inspect finished welds to ensure they meet blueprint tolerances and quality standards
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment, using provided safety equipment at all times
Knowledge and Experience Requirements
- Proficient in various welding techniques, including TIG, MIG, arc, and oxy-fuel welding
- Knowledge of both manual and mechanical welding processes
- Familiarity with metallurgy and material properties relevant to welding
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Strong attention to detail and quality control
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Prior experience with welding 12, 14, 16 gauge materials and heavy tubing (1/4" and 3/8" wall)

Work Conditions
- Clean work clothes with steel-toed boots preferred
- Safety equipment provided and required to be worn at all times
- Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to metalworking, welding fumes, and machinery
Available Shifts
1. Monday through Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
2. Monday through Thursday 4:00 PM - 2:30 AM (swing shift)
$3 an hour shift differential for swing schedule
