Responsibilities
- Install new HVAC systems, including ductwork, refrigeration units, boilers, and air conditioning equipment, ensuring adherence to schematics and design specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance on HVAC equipment to optimize performance and extend lifespan.
- Troubleshoot and repair complex HVAC systems using electrical diagnostics tools such as ohmmeters and specialized equipment troubleshooting techniques.
- Diagnose issues related to refrigeration, plumbing, electrical systems, and mechanical components; execute repairs efficiently.
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, and building automation system diagrams for accurate system installation and repair.
- Conduct comprehensive system inspections to identify potential problems before they escalate; document findings thoroughly.
- Maintain compliance with EPA regulations related to refrigerant handling and ensure environmentally responsible practices during equipment servicing.
- Collaborate with property maintenance teams or clients to coordinate repairs or upgrades while providing excellent customer service.
- Utilize hand tools and mechanical knowledge to perform precise repairs on HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning / Refrigeration) units.
- Assist in the installation of HVAC system controls and integration with building automation systems for enhanced energy management.
Skills
- Proven construction experience combined with service technician background in HVAC systems.
- Strong understanding of schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams related to HVAC design and installation.
- Extensive knowledge of HVAC system repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Proficiency in electrical diagnostics using tools like ohmmeters; ability to interpret electrical systems accurately.
- Familiarity with refrigeration principles including ammonia refrigeration systems when applicable.
- Mechanical aptitude for repairing mechanical systems such as boilers and other mechanical components within HVAC units.
- Experience working with plumbing systems associated with HVAC installations or repairs.
- Ability to operate hand tools efficiently while maintaining safety standards at all times.
- Knowledge of building automation systems for controlling climate environments effectively.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; familiarity with
driver requirements preferred. - Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members.
- Certifications such as EPA refrigerant handling certification required; additional certifications in HVAC/R or appliance repair are advantageous.
