Patient Administration Specialist is the freshman position in the Patient Administration Department. The department plays a vital role in the processing of new patients as well as communicating with referring practices. This position exposes the employee to all the facets of the department while being able to focus on their assigned role. This role may include order intake, patient scheduling, financial benefits review, and insurance authorization. As their skillset and experience develop, they can be trained in additional duties on track to be considered for the Admin Level 2 position.
Listed below are the expectations and responsibilities for the position:

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate effectively via phone and/or email with patients, peers, and referral sources to maintain a high level of customer service
  • Process incoming orders into the EMR to be worked on by the rest of the team
  • Manage ‘incompletes’, working toward closure of all orders
  • Actively work to schedule all patients for their therapy education appointment (‘Setup’)
  • Actively process all patients through the financial review process to prepare them for scheduling
  • Must have an absolute understanding of insurance and patient costs/payments
  • Actively procure all necessary authorizations for patient appointments.
  • Proactively review upcoming appointments to make sure appointments do not proceed without proper authorization
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management

Expectations:

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite; 50 wpm.
  • Proficiency in communication, both written and verbal
  • Handle protected health information (PHI) in a manner consistent with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA)

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:30am- 5:30pm.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 per hour
