Position Summary:
The AR Specialist, with support from the finance team, is responsible for the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of receivables, particularly federal and state contracts, while providing support to the accounts payable and payroll processes. The AR Specialist works closely with the Finance Department Manager to ensure efficient accounting workflows.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage daily accounting operations including general ledger, accounts receivable, monthly close procedures, and reconciliations
- Oversee billing and receivables for contracts and grants, including federally funded programs
- Ensure compliance with funding sources, documentation requirements, and deadlines
- Provide support for Accounts Payable and Payroll functions
- Maintain internal controls and ensure timely financial processing
- Collaborate with Accounting Manager on process improvements for reporting, analysis, and forecasting
- Support financial tracking across multiple departments and programs
- Prepare documentation and assist in audit process
- Complete special projects or additional assignments as needed
Applicants may qualify through any one of the following pathways
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance and at least one year of accounting experience
- Two to three years of progressive accounting experience, including responsibility for closing books
- Any combination of education, training, and hands-on experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the role

Other Requirements
- Successful completion of a background check
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Experience with nonprofit or governmental accounting
- Familiarity with grant management or contract billing for publicly funded programs
- Experience with medical billing
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks), Microsoft Excel, and Google Workspace
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet tight deadlines
- Excellent communication skills and effective problem-solving abilities
