Job Summary:
The Front Office Receptionist in Charlotte, NC, will play a crucial role in patient registration, ensuring accuracy and efficiency while utilizing our medical systems. This role also entails verifying patient insurance coverage using our facility's medical necessity tools. You'll be asked to perform these duties following established policies and procedures, while also delivering outstanding customer service to our physicians, patients, and other medical staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients and visitors by greeting them in person or on the telephone, addressing inquiries appropriately.
- Record patient arrivals in the Practice Management System (EMR).
- Verify patient identities by date of birth and name, creating new accounts as needed.
- Prepare necessary paperwork for patient appointments.
- Contact “No Show” patients to reschedule and document necessary information in the Practice Management System.
- Simplify appointment scheduling to boost patient satisfaction, provider time efficiency, and treatment room use.
- Assist in emergency situations with prompt and sound judgment.
- Review and update information in the Practice Management System (EMR) regularly, working with patients for accuracy.
- Verify insurance coverage and eligibility, keeping track of financial status, and report prior authorization needs to the Billing Department.
- Maintain a clean and organized reception area.
- Collect patient co-pays and outstanding balances, ensuring confidentiality of personal information.
- Follow operational policies and procedures, reporting any changes as necessary.
- Contribute to team efforts to accomplish relevant results.
- Showcase exceptional customer service skills in all interactions.
- Answer telephones in a timely and professional manner.
- Engage with patients, visitors, providers, and team members courteously and cooperatively.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Practice Manager or Area Practice Manager.
- High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree preferred.
- 1 year of customer service experience in a healthcare office preferred.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
