We are seeking a Cost Control professional to manage project and capital costs, maintain accurate financial records, and support cost forecasting and reporting. The ideal candidate will utilize knowledge of SAP, strong attention to detail, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to coordinate with project teams to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Enter and maintain cost-related transactions in SAP (CO/PS/IM/FM as applicable): WIP postings, cost center postings, project/capital chargebacks, cost accruals, and allocations.
- Reconcile project and capital spend versus budgets: validate POs, invoices (GR/IR), labor postings, subcontractor costs, and material charges.
- Prepare and maintain month-end cost close activities, including cost rollups, charge allocations, accrual reversals, analysis packs, and supporting schedules for finance reviews.
- Maintain project cost codes, WBS elements, network activities, and cost center hierarchies; create/maintain projects in SAP PS per site process.
- Investigate and resolve cost variances and exceptions with procurement, project managers, accounting, and operations; document root cause and corrective actions.
- Support cost forecasting and reforecast processes: update cost-to-complete, committed vs. spent reports, and cash-flow timing for capital projects.
- Generate standard and ad-hoc cost reports/dashboards (actuals, commitments, variances, burn rates) and distribute to stakeholders.
- Assist in preparing capital requests, budget changes, and cost change orders; ensure adequate backup and approvals for capital spend.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, capital policy, capitalization thresholds, and audit documentation requirements.
- Support periodic audits, SOX testing, and external/internal reporting requests; provide timely documentation and reconciliations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by streamlining costing transactions, improving data quality, and documenting SOPs/job aids.
- Bachelor's degree, in a relevant discipline, strongly preferred.
- 5 years relevant experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of SAP and ability to learn additional software tools as needed.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills to lead cost control meetings and collaborate with project teams.
- Experience with cost forecasting, reporting, and reconciliation of project/capital expenditures.
- Ability to maintain accurate financial records and support audits and internal controls.
