Position Overview

Join us in our support to the US Space Force (HQ USSF) Commercial Satellite Communication (COMSATCOM) Office (CSCO), where you will help shape the future of assured, resilient SATCOM for our warfighters and mission partners. As a key member of a highly collaborative, mission-focused team, you will apply your expertise to help deliver innovative commercial SATCOM capabilities, integrate a transformative COMSATCOM business model into the broader SATCOM enterprise, and translate complex operational needs into effective, affordable solutions. In this role, you will work directly with COMSATCOM customers and stakeholders, providing trusted guidance, insightful analysis, and clear recommendations that drive real-world impact in a rapidly evolving space domain. Job duties include:

Responsibilities

  • Lead cybersecurity efforts for commercial narrowband SATCOM environments, including satellite communications links, ground systems, mission applications, and associated enterprise interfaces.
  • Develop, maintain, and assess cybersecurity requirements, architectures, and control implementations for secure voice, data, and command-and-control services.
  • Perform risk assessments, security control validation, and gap analyses using the NIST Cybersecurity Framework functions of Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond, and Recover.
  • Support RMF lifecycle activities, including security documentation, assessment artifacts, authorization packages, and ongoing compliance reporting.
  • Ensure systems comply with applicable STIGs, SCAP requirements, audit logging standards, vulnerability-management processes, and customer security policies.
  • Monitor cybersecurity posture across narrowband-related systems; conduct vulnerability identification, remediation tracking, and validation of corrective actions.
  • Protect mission systems against threats relevant to satellite operations, including spoofing, interception, malicious code, unauthorized commands, jamming, and denial-of-service conditions.
  • Coordinate incident response and recovery for cyber events affecting satellite service delivery, network integrity, or mission assurance.
  • Review system designs, interfaces, and configuration baselines to ensure secure segmentation, encryption, authentication, and least-privilege access.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, network engineers, ISSMs, mission operators, and program managers to integrate cybersecurity early in the lifecycle, including design, development, operations, and sustainment.
  • Prepare technical reports, POA&Ms, briefing materials, and status updates for leadership and customer stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience may be substituted depending on contract requirements.
  • Secret Clearance Required. #qinetiqclearedjob
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant cybersecurity experience, including work in Department of War (DoW), federal, aerospace, SATCOM, or mission-critical communications environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with RMF, eMASS, A&A documentation, STIG implementation, SCAP, audit logging, and vulnerability management.
  • Knowledge of satellite communications security concepts, including protection of command links, telemetry, data in transit, and ground-segment interfaces.
  • Familiarity with NIST CSF, NIST 800-series guidance, and DoW cybersecurity policy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical risk into mission and operational impacts.
  • Ability to support on-site client meetings within the National Capital Region.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Narrowband MILSATCOM, commercial SATCOM, tactical communications, or protected mobile communications support experience.
  • Experience securing mission systems that rely on encrypted communications, dedicated gateways, and resilient global service delivery.
  • Background in incident response or cyber defense for distributed operational technology, mobile communications, or contested communications environments where jamming and spoofing are relevant risks.
  • Certification such as Security , CISSP, or other DoD 8140/8570-aligned credential.
