Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT.

You qualify at the GS-14 grade level if you have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level (or equivalent) performing the following duties:
- Supervising and executing work that involves security operations (ex. cyberspace, threat reduction, vulnerability reduction, deterrence, internal engagement and etc.);
- Recommending the appropriate measures to internal and/or external cyber defense technicians to resolve cyber defense incidents;
- Overseeing employees conducting risk and vulnerability assessments to protect IT infrastructure assets and mitigate network vulnerabilities; and
- Providing advisory services to leadership to ensure the proper operation of IT systems throughout an organization.

- Directly manage information technology projects. Applies knowledge of data, information, processes, organizational interactions, skills, and analytical expertise, as well as systems, networks, and information exchange capabilities to manage acquisition programs.
- Consult with customers to gather and evaluate functional requirements and translate these requirements into technical solutions. Provide guidance to customers about applicability of information systems to meet business needs.
- Responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools.
- Develop and maintain cybersecurity plans, strategy, and policy to support and align with organizational cybersecurity initiatives and regulatory compliance.
- Supervise and execute technical and nontechnical risk and vulnerability assessments of relevant technology focus areas.
