Summary
This position is responsible for developing, standardizing, and supporting the environmental compliance program for the engineering, procurement, and construction of Solar PV and BESS projects. The role focuses on creating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), guidance documents, standardized deliverables, and field tools to ensure consistent and effective implementation of environmental requirements across all projects.
In addition, this position is responsible for developing, coordinating, and overseeing the environmental training program, including training materials, delivery methods, and competency tracking for both corporate and site-level personnel. This role also leads the standardization and oversight of environmental KPIs, reporting frameworks, and dashboards to drive visibility, consistency, and data-informed decision-making across the organization.
This position reports to the EPC Associate Director of Environmental, or another management personnel designated by the President of the Company. The position may be based in Houston, TX or remote. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm or 9:00am–6:00pm local time, with overtime and weekend work required as project demands dictate. Travel up to 15% of the time is expected.

Essential Job Function & Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve environmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), guidance documents, best practices, and standardized deliverables (templates, reporting formats) to ensure consistent implementation and alignment across all projects.
- Develop and oversee environmental KPIs, including standardization of metrics, data collection processes, and performance tracking; design and maintain reporting frameworks, dashboards, and data visualization tools to provide actionable insights to leadership and project teams.
- Establish and maintain data governance standards, including KPI definitions, data sources, and reporting cadences, to ensure reliability, transparency, and comparability of performance metrics.
- Lead the development, implementation, and optimization of environmental tools and systems (including Procore), ensuring alignment with company processes and integration with project workflows and Project Controls.
- Collaborate with Environmental Managers, Project Teams, Engineering, and other stakeholders to identify gaps, drive standardization, and implement process improvements.
- Develop, manage, and deliver the environmental training program, including training materials, onboarding, role-based learning paths, and competency tracking for corporate and field personnel.
- Manage the environmental training calendar and ensure timely completion of all required training.
- Establish and maintain centralized systems for environmental documentation, SOPs, templates, and training materials to ensure accessibility and version control.
- Provide guidance and support to site-level Environmental Managers and review environmental deliverables for consistency with company standards.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of environmental processes, training programs, and KPI performance through feedback, audits, and reporting; implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Serve as an internal environmental Subject Matter Expert (SME) and represent Environmental in cross-functional initiatives related to process development, systems integration, and program improvements.
- Provides centralized onboarding services for environmental team members and oversees the onboarding process for all new environmental team members.
- Support internal audits, lessons learned initiatives, and other continuous improvement efforts across the environmental program.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned, and maintain regular attendance in accordance with company policy.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental compliance, preferably within preconstruction environmental due diligence, construction environmental compliance, and program development.
- Demonstrated experience supporting or managing environmental compliance for large-scale construction projects (Solar PV, BESS, or similar preferred).
- Proven experience developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), guidance documents, and standardized processes.
- Experience creating and managing environmental deliverables, documentation, and reporting in a project-based environment.
- Experience developing and delivering training programs, including creation of training materials and tracking of completion and competency.
- Experience establishing and managing key performance indicators (KPIs), including data collection, validation, and performance tracking.
- Proficiency in developing dashboards and reporting tools (e.g., Procore, Excel, Power BI, or similar platforms).
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations applicable to construction projects (federal, state, and local).
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and drive alignment across multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and standardize processes across a portfolio of projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience using Procore and/or Environmental Management Software preferred.
