Grocery Store Management – Job Description

Position Summary:
Grocery Store Management is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the store to ensure efficiency, profitability, and a positive shopping experience for customers. This role involves managing staff, maintaining inventory, ensuring compliance with company policies, and achieving sales and operational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Leadership
  • Oversee daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Ensure store standards for cleanliness, organization, and safety are met.
  • Implement and monitor company policies, procedures, and initiatives.
  • Staff Management
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise employees.
  • Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching or disciplinary action as needed.
  • Customer Service
  • Ensure exceptional customer service and handle escalated customer issues professionally.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and implement improvements where necessary.
  • Inventory & Merchandising
  • Oversee ordering, receiving, stocking, and inventory control processes.
  • Ensure proper product rotation, pricing accuracy, and promotional displays.
  • Work with department heads to maintain in-stock conditions and product quality.
  • Financial Management
  • Manage budgets and financial reports.
  • Analyze sales trends and develop strategies to increase profitability.
  • Control costs related to labor, shrink, and supplies.
  • Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, health, and OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records for inspections, audits, and company requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in retail or grocery management required.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and make sound business decisions.
  • Knowledge of POS systems, scheduling software, and inventory management tools.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.70 - $27.34 per hour
