Pay: Weekly Gross $1,703 (based on completion of 40 hours per week)
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule: 8‑hour night shifts (Monday–Friday, 8:00pm – 4:30am)
- Duration: 13 weeks (06/15/2026 – 09/12/2026)
- Expected Hours by Facility: 40 hours per week
- Receive and accession surgical and pathology specimens into Cerner LIS.
- Process tissue specimens including fixation, dehydration, clearing, and paraffin infiltration.
- Embed processed tissue into paraffin blocks and perform microtomy (cutting) to produce high‑quality slides.
- Perform routine and special staining (H&E, special stains) as required.
- Prepare slides for immunohistochemistry (IHC) and cytology preparations.
- Maintain proper labeling, tracking, and documentation for all specimens and slides.
- Operate and maintain histology equipment (tissue processors, embedding stations, microtomes, stainers).
- Collaborate with pathology assistants (PA), pathologists, and laboratory staff to ensure timely slide production.
- Adhere to safety, infection control, and quality assurance standards.
Key Requirements and Technology Experience:
- Must have skills: Histotechnologist, Histology Tech, ASCP, HT, HLT, Pathology, Tissue Processing, Microtomy.
- Minimum 2 years of experience within a pathology laboratory (histology specialty)
- Active ASCP certification as HT (Histotechnician) or HLT (Histotechnologist) – required
- Successful completion of a formal histology technologist training program, OR an Associate's degree in chemical, physical, or biological sciences
- Proficiency with Cerner laboratory information system
- Experience with tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining
- Ability to work 8‑hour night shifts (Monday–Friday, 8:00pm – 4:30am), 40 expected hours per week
- No local candidates within 50 miles (travel only)
- Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and organizational skills
- Expertise in microtomy (cutting paraffin sections) and embedding
- Knowledge of routine and special staining techniques
- Familiarity with immunohistochemistry (IHC) and cytology preparations
- Proficiency with laboratory information systems (Cerner preferred)
- Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced pathology lab
