Major Duties & Responsibilities
- Bridge the Gap: Act as the vital link between Math and Science, using scientific phenomena to ground abstract mathematical reasoning.
- Drive Innovation: Support the district's transition to Illustrative Mathematics (IM) and prepare students for the rigor of CPM in Middle School.
- Collaborate Daily: Work in a "pod" environment with Grade 5 math/science teachers, interventionists, and coordinators to ensure curriculum alignment and student growth.
- Foster Critical Thinking: Guide students through project-based learning that mirrors real-world STEM careers.
- Data-Informed Instruction: Use student data to refine lessons, ensuring every child meets Connecticut's growth goals in these high-stakes testing areas.
- Bachelor's degree in an Education or STEM-related field.
- Connecticut Teaching Certification (Elementary 001, 006, 305, or relevant endorsements in math or science) or eligibility for certification required
- Knowledge of NGSS and CCSS Math standards.
- Proficiency with educational technology and data tracking.
- Empathy, great communication skills, and a commitment to inclusive teaching.
