We're Hiring: Assistant After School Program Director (School Year 2025–2026)

Afterschool Site in Brownsville, Brooklyn

Purelements: An Evolution in Dance is seeking an Assistant Program Director to support the daily operations of our dynamic SONYC afterschool programs for middle school students (grades 6–8).

Your Role
As Assistant Program Director, you’ll be a critical member of our site leadership team. You’ll support the Site Director in managing program logistics, guiding staff, and ensuring a high-quality experience for students that reflects the values and energy of the communities we serve.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Program Management: Assist with day-to-day program operations, including scheduling, attendance, and activity flow.
- Supervise & Mentor Staff: Provide guidance and support to Group Leaders and Teaching Artists, helping to maintain a positive and effective team culture.
- Champion Culture & Community: Help embed our multi-cultural values and culturally responsive practices into all aspects of the program.
- Ensure Safety & Structure: Uphold safety protocols and support the emotional well-being of all participants.
- Family & School Communication: Help maintain clear, supportive communication with caregivers and school partners.
- Lead When Needed: Step into the Site Director role as needed, including supporting staff meetings and trainings.
Qualifications
- At least 21 years old with an Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience in childcare, education, or youth development
- Minimum of 2 years experience working with youth in educational or community-based programs.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with and commitment to Afro-diasporic culture and community-centered programming.
- Ability to multitask, troubleshoot, and maintain a positive, calm presence under pressure.
- Must complete all DOH & DOE background and fingerprinting clearances.
- Knowledge of NYC DOE and DYCD afterschool systems is a plus.
- School Age Child Care Credentials and trainings/education degree credits are a huge plus!
