Job Title: Assistant Director - Sports Nutrition

Job Summary
Work effectively with Sports Performance and Sports Medicine to provide a comprehensive approach to Student Athlete's health and performance, with heavy emphasis on football. Provide nutrition counseling and medical nutrition therapy to individual student-athletes, teams, and coaches. Oversee and coordinate student workforce to maintain 10-13 fueling stations in an organized and food safe manner this includes maintenance, stocking and distribution of nutritional supplements to individual student-athletes and teams.
What You'll Be Doing:
Provide nutrition counseling/education and medical nutrition therapy to individual student-athletes, teams, and coaches with heavy emphasis on Football.
Staff football practice and other team activities as needed/appropriate to monitor and oversee fueling and hydration.
Oversee and coordinate student workforce to maintain Football fueling station in an organized and food safe manner this includes maintenance, stocking and distribution of nutritional supplements to individual student-athletes and teams.
Interpret, summarize and share body composition and bone density data with student-athletes, coaches, sports medicine and sports performance staff.
Serve as department resource for dietary supplements. Evaluate dietary supplements for safety, legality, efficacy and cost.
Maintain active media communications.
Coordinate meals and snacks for student-athletes with consideration for energy needs, performance goals, and any food allergies, intolerances or religious preferences.
Serve as resource to student-athletes during meals provided at the Athletic Dining Room.
Assist with menu planning and coordinate team meals as needed.
Create educational information for team meals and ensure labeling system is up-to-date.
Manage team nutrition budget for individual sports.

What We're Looking For:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Nutrition/Dietetics
Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Dietitian working in the following areas: clinical nutrition, one-on-one nutrition counseling, sports nutrition, eating disorders, public speaking, budget management & procurement, food service & menu development
Skills needed:
Excellent communication skills with both individuals and groups.
Ability to motivate constituents, including students, athletes, sports medicine staff, and administrators.
Ability to work independently.
Competence in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
Understanding of athletes and their training, via coaching experience, previous employment or candidate’s own sports participation.
Knowledge of various behavior change strategies.
Knowledge and experience with dietary supplementation for athletes.
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Experience with dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry.
Knowledge and experience using various types of media to reach constituents.
