What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Development Coordinator position at Puller Veterans Care Center?
Plans, directs, organizes, implements, evaluates, and coordinates a comprehensive Staff Education program in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern such requirements in the facility to meet staff and resident needs.
Implements BLS certification and compliance
Oversees and directs the facility’s CNA certification program.
Staff Education
Develops and implements an effective orientation program for all new nursing department employees, to include but not limited to:
Nursing care, equipment management/use, and PCC/POC use.
Conduct monthly/annual regulatory training, education, in-services, and skills fairs, to develop ongoing education for existing nursing staff on all shifts
Documents and monitors competency and training records for all nursing department personnel
Collaborates with other departmental management staff to ensure initial and ongoing education are provided to all facility staff
Participates as facility CPR instructor ensuring CPR certification compliance with clinical and non-clinical staff
Coordinates and facilitates Nurse Aide Certification program
Participates as a member of the Quality Improvement committee
Communicates evidenced-based changes in policies and procedures pertaining to nursing care
Other Duties
Performs other duties as may be assigned that are within the department’s mission and as situations warrant in meeting the overall needs of the facility.
May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
May work as floor nurse, as critical staffing needs present.
Serves in the nurse on-call rotation.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
