QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in public administration, political science, journalism, communications or other related field or professional experience
Master’s degree or juris doctorate preferred
REPORTS TO: Director of Communications
JOB GOAL: This position will primarily be responsible for responding to all public information inquiries, specifically Freedom of Information Act requests for Pulaski County Special School District. This position will also facilitate and manage the People Assisting Local Schools (PALS) program as well as other duties as assigned.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Respond to all Arkansas Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.- Respond to subpoena requests from the Attorney General’s office and other legal entities in Arkansas.
- Consult with the District’s outside legal counsel as it pertains to public information and/or subpoena requests.
- Host training sessions with employees on using the background check systems.
- Develop guidelines for PALS participants and manage the program procedures.
- Partner with the Department of Safety and Security to ensure PALS program guidelines are followed.
- Plan events and special observances for PALS.
- Create content for publication through PCSSD communication channels such as, but not limited to, the PCSSD website or social media.
- Sustain familiarity with Google Suite products (i.e. Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.) and Adobe Acrobat and PDF readers.
- Be familiar with Associated Press Style.
- Maintain professional digital records system.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary Range: Range 5 - Support Staff Daily Salary Schedule ($234.96/day - $351.08/day depending on relevant experience)
Length of Contract: 216 contract days
