Position Summary
The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality mammography and stereotactic procedures while ensuring compliance with MQSA guidelines and safety standards. This role supports physicians in diagnosis by producing accurate imaging and maintaining strict quality control protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet, prepare, and position patients for mammography and stereotactic procedures; perform X-ray exams as needed
- Assess and document patient condition to determine proper handling and any special requirements
- Provide a positive, compassionate patient experience and support patient satisfaction goals
- Review physician orders and requisitions for accuracy and special instructions
- Instruct and assist patients in proper positioning to obtain optimal imaging results
- Evaluate images and monitoring results to ensure quality and determine if corrective action is needed
- Follow all procedure protocols as established by the Medical Director
- Maintain and enforce radiation safety standards for patients and staff
- Perform and document quality assurance and quality control testing in compliance with MQSA guidelines
- Maintain mammography and stereotactic equipment and rooms in proper working condition; report malfunctions and coordinate repairs
- Perform routine QC testing and assist with preventative maintenance and equipment calibration
- Train and support peers and new team members, promoting best practices and consistency
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned
