Research and Communications Associate
Public Private Strategies is seeking an intellectually curious, self-starting professional eager to deepen domain expertise to serve as a Research and Communications Associate at the Public Private Strategies Institute. The individual will support research, analysis, and communications related to corporate activity, market trends, and policy developments as part of our Business, Democracy and the Economy initiative. This role combines rigorous research with strong writing and synthesis skills to produce clear insights and regular communications, primarily for external audiences.
The ideal candidate is a strong writer who enjoys analyzing information, tracking policy and market developments, and translating complex information into clear, actionable insights. The role also supports rapid response analysis and communications related to breaking developments, requiring the ability to quickly synthesize information and contribute to timely briefings and communications.
Primary Responsibilities
Research, Analysis, and Writing
- Perform research to build and maintain trackers of corporate activity, industry developments, and market trends
- Analyze and synthesize information from multiple sources to produce clear, concise written outputs
- Draft reports, summaries, and briefings that translate complex developments into accessible insights
- Support leadership and partners with research memos and background materials.
Corporate Activity Monitoring
- Track corporate activity in a handful of domain areas including statements, policies and practices, and developments for the purposes of awareness and insight generation
- Identify patterns and notable developments that may have strategic implications.
Rapid Response Coordination
- Monitor breaking developments across corporate, policy, and market environments.
- Coordinate rapid response efforts by gathering information quickly and supporting the development of timely insights and communications.
- Draft rapid response round ups, memos, alerts, and briefing materials in response to emerging developments.
- Work with internal teams to ensure timely dissemination of insights to relevant stakeholders.
Newsletters and Communications
- Draft regular newsletters summarizing developments, insights, and updates.
- Draft communications for stakeholders, including updates, summaries, and briefing materials.
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather information and ensure timely distribution of communications.
- Ensure all communications are clear, accurate, and aligned with organizational priorities.
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience in research, policy analysis, consulting, journalism, communications, or a related role.
- Bachelor’s degree in public policy, economics, journalism, business, political science, or a related field.
- Clear and concise communicator
- Exceptional writing, editing, and synthesis skills.
- Strong interest in rule of law, business diversity, role of business in society
- Ability to work quickly and accurately in fast-moving environments.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage deadlines.
Preferred Skills / Traits
- Experience writing compelling copy against deadlines
- Familiarity with corporate strategy, policy developments,
- Experience supporting rapid-response analysis or communications
- Deep curiosity about politics, policy and business
- Analytical and intellectually curious
- Comfortable working with fast-moving environments
