Public Private Strategies (PPS) seeks a Senior Director to lead and scale our portfolio at the intersection of health care, health-adjacent fields (e.g., longevity, caregiving, and social services), and cross-cutting market and policy issues that impact employers. This is a senior, client-facing role with accountability for strategy, growth, delivery, and impact across initiatives that engage employers of all sizes from micro businesses to large employers alongside government, philanthropy, and advocates.
The Senior Director will be a trusted convener and advisor, translating the realities of the private sector perspective to advance fields of action through engagement in coalitions, campaigns, and policy that accelerate practical solutions for employers.
The Senior Director will lead a growth-oriented practice that designs and delivers initiatives informed by the needs and incentives of across small businesses and large employers—from benefits strategy and workforce health to aging/longevity and social services—while aligning with other stakeholders in the public, private, and philanthropic sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Practice Leadership
- Own the vision and develop a multi-year strategy for PPS’s Health, Longevity & Well-Being practice; set priorities, revenue targets, and impact metrics.
- Translate employer perspectives—from the self-employed business owner to Fortune 500 corporate leaders—into actionable initiatives that are feasible in real markets and policy environments.
- Advise clients and partners on health policy, aging and longevity, caregiving, behavioral health, workforce and benefits innovation, as well as cross-cutting themes.
Business & Market Development
- Drive new business and partnerships across government, foundations, associations, advocacy organizations, and businesses.
- Build and manage a robust pipeline; shape scopes, write proposals, and lead pitch meetings.
- Leverage a deep network across small-business groups (e.g., chambers, industry associations, independent brokers/advisors) and large-employer platforms (benefits coalitions, HR/benefits leadership communities).
Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management
- Build trusted relationships with policymakers, healthcare leaders, employers, advocates, and philanthropy.
- Represent PPS in external meetings and industry forums as well as serve as the PPS representative on coalitions and multi-stakeholder collaboratives with agencies, employers, advocates, and philanthropy.
- Produce executive briefings, issue memos, market scans, talking points, and investment cases for senior leaders and teams.
Convenings & Thought Leadership
- Architect high-impact roundtables, summits, and webinars; recruit speakers across the employer and policy landscape; craft agendas and run-of-show.
- Publish issue briefs and op-eds that elevate employer perspectives on health, longevity/aging, and human services—positioning PPS as a go-to convener.
Qualifications
Required
- 12–15 years in health policy, employer benefits, consulting, public affairs, or adjacent fields—with demonstrated success serving both small businesses and large employers.
- Proven practice or program leadership experience: strategy setting, project management, business development, and delivery at scale.
- Fluency in employer realities across segments: broker/intermediary channels, plan design and purchasing, vendor ecosystems, compliance, and change management.
- Strong coalition leadership and stakeholder management across government, philanthropy, advocacy organizations, associations, provider systems, payers, and innovators.
- Exceptional executive communication—able to brief C-suite, founders, and policymakers; superb writing for memos, proposals, and thought leadership.
Preferred
- Experience advising employer coalitions, chambers/associations, or private sector networks.
- Subject-matter knowledge across health, longevity/aging and caregiving, behavioral health, social/human services, and financing of health care.
- Familiarity with the Washington, DC policy ecosystem and federal/state implementation dynamics.
- Team-building experience (hiring, mentoring, performance management).
