Reliability Mechanical Engineer

About the Role
Be Part of a New Manufacturing Facility
This is an exciting opportunity to join the development of a brand-new manufacturing plant from the ground up. You will play a key role in the installation, commissioning, and startup of new equipment and technology while helping establish the foundation for the facility’s long-term reliability and performance.
Following commissioning and startup, the position will transition into a site-based Mechanical Engineering role, focused on equipment reliability, mechanical integrity, maintenance strategies, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of mechanical reliability and integrity programs for both fixed and rotating equipment.
- Review mechanical and piping engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and technical deliverables.
- Ensure equipment and systems comply with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and engineering requirements.
- Provide technical review and challenge of EPCM engineering designs to ensure reliability and maintainability.
- Support the specification, evaluation, and selection of mechanical equipment.
- Conduct root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and develop corrective and preventative actions.
- Support preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) programs.
- Review vendor documentation, equipment drawings, technical data, and operating manuals.
- Provide field engineering support during equipment installation, testing, and construction activities.
- Assist with punch-list development, mechanical completion, commissioning, and startup activities.
- Provide technical expertise for equipment troubleshooting, modifications, and reliability improvements.
- Develop and optimize preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies, including critical spare-parts planning.
- Monitor equipment reliability metrics such as MTBF, MTTR, and equipment availability.
- Analyze equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, maintainability, and overall plant performance.
- Partner with maintenance, operations, engineering, and project teams to support safe and efficient plant operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5 years of experience working in industrial manufacturing, chemical processing, energy, or similar facilities; chemical manufacturing experience preferred.
- Experience with both static/fixed and rotating equipment.
- Working knowledge of ASME, API, piping, pressure equipment, and mechanical integrity standards.
- Experience supporting construction, equipment installation, commissioning, and startup activities preferred.
- Strong understanding of equipment reliability, maintainability, and asset lifecycle management.
- Ability to analyze equipment failures and develop practical reliability improvements.
- Must be able to successfully complete an ATF background check as required for work involving regulated explosive materials.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering, maintenance, operations, and project teams.
