Assistant Electrical Detailer – Telecommunications
We are seeking an Assistant Electrical Detailer to join our team and support a diverse portfolio of telecommunications and engineering projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career design professional with strong Revit and CAD experience to work alongside engineers, designers, and project teams.
The successful candidate will assist with the planning, design, modeling, and documentation of telecommunications systems while ensuring compliance with company, client, and project standards.
What You'll Do
- Design and model a variety of telecommunications projects, including:
- Physical pathway infrastructure designs for inside and outside plant.
- Equipment plan layouts.
- Structured cabling layouts.
- 3D Revit model development and management.
- Assist with the setup of telecommunications Revit models according to project requirements.
- Prepare engineering drawings from rough sketches, verbal instructions, notes, and general engineering information using Revit and other CAD software.
- Develop initial designs and sketches and incorporate redlines and markups on ongoing projects.
- Assist with design calculations, system component sizing, problem analysis, and other design assignments.
- Apply applicable design codes, specifications, and project requirements.
- Complete and review design drawings within established scope, budget, and schedule requirements.
- Organize and maintain revisions of project drawings and related documentation.
- Support telecommunications BIM coordination with other engineering disciplines.
- Maintain telecommunications model health and data integrity for assigned projects.
- Utilize both 2D and 3D applications to prepare high-quality engineering drawings.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, and other team members to resolve design and drawing issues.
- Support additional project assignments as needed.
- Comply with all company policies, standards, and project requirements.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Drafting Technology or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of related experience; OR
- Associate degree with a minimum of 3 years of related experience; OR
- High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years of progressive detailing and design experience.
Important: A bachelor's degree in an engineering field does not qualify for this position.
Internship experience will not count toward the required years of experience.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of Revit, AutoCAD, and Excel.
- Experience with Autodesk Revit is strongly preferred.
- Ability to effectively use both 2D and 3D design applications.
- Basic knowledge of telecommunications design, systems, and calculations.
- Understanding of engineering design principles and the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to quickly learn and effectively utilize new design software and programs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced project environment.
Work Authorization
