Refinery Operator Instructor

We’re looking for a Refinery Operator Instructor to support training and development across plant operations. This role will deliver training, maintain training programs and materials, track employee progress, and help ensure employees have the knowledge and skills needed to work safely, effectively, and in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in process operations and enjoys teaching others. You’ll work closely with plant personnel and the Learning & Development team to keep training programs relevant, practical, and up to date.

What You’ll Do

• Deliver new hire, refresher, and remedial training covering Safety, Maintenance, Operations, and Compliance.
• Conduct training for operations personnel on process fundamentals, plant science, fluid behavior, heat, and heat transfer.
• Provide training on process equipment such as pumps, valves, instrumentation, fractionators, heat exchangers, vacuum systems, and related equipment.
• Deliver training related to fractional distillation, water treatment, and other separation processes.
• Make sure required Computer-Based Training (CBT) courses are completed on schedule.
• Maintain operations, safety, maintenance, and compliance training programs, including course materials, documentation, and employee records.
• Maintain accurate training records within the Learning Management System (LMS).
• Track employee training progress and follow up on outstanding requirements.
• Coordinate and deliver refresher training to help maintain company and regulatory compliance.
• Work with plant personnel and the Learning & Development Program Manager to identify opportunities to improve training programs and course materials.
• Help ensure training programs remain aligned with applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
• Communicate employee training status and progress to managers and other stakeholders.
• Support other training and development initiatives as needed.

What We’re Looking For

• 5 years of experience in process operations.
• Up to one year of specialized or technical training beyond high school.
• Strong understanding of process operations, equipment, and plant fundamentals.
• Comfortable teaching technical concepts to employees with varying levels of experience.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to explain complex technical information in a clear, practical, and easy-to-understand way.
• Ability to identify training needs and help develop effective training materials and programs.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly when managing training records and compliance requirements.
• Comfortable working with computers, software applications, LMS platforms, and other communication tools.
• Ability to work effectively with operators, maintenance personnel, supervisors, and other plant stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Process Operator vocational training or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience delivering technical, operations, or process training.
• Experience working with a Learning Management System (LMS).
