Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Scientist III to join our team in Redmond, Washington. This role involves working on cutting-edge research and development in the field of virtual and augmented reality (AR/VR). The successful candidate will contribute to the design, development, and automation of workflows for experimental screening of organic materials, as well as the development of next-generation optoelectronic materials. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of AR/VR technology and collaborate with a world-class team of researchers and engineers.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and automate workflows for experimental screening of organic materials to streamline data acquisition for novel optoelectronic materials development.
• Develop advanced design, fabrication, and analysis techniques for next-generation optoelectronic materials.
• Collaborate with the larger research team to address current goals, limitations, and bottlenecks in the AR/VR space.
• Work with and develop an in-depth understanding of high-throughput experimental equipment.
• Design and automate novel crystal growth, processing, and analysis techniques for specific components and devices.
• Communicate research results internally and with external partners.
• Assist in translating research findings into practical applications for product development.

Qualifications:

• PhD or Master's degree in Physics, Chemistry, Optical Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a relevant technical field.
• Work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and ongoing work authorization during employment.
• Experience programming hardware interfaces (e.g., serial/I2C/SPI communication, DAQ systems, motion control) using Python, LabVIEW, C, or similar languages.
• 2 years of experience in areas such as chemistry, materials, organic materials, crystallization, nucleation, solid-state analysis, or optoelectronic materials.
• 2 years of hands-on experimental laboratory work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proven track record of significant achievements demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, or first-authored publications in high-impact journals.
• Experience with solid-state analysis techniques such as diffuse reflectance, XRD, spectroscopy, DSC, and optical microscopy.
• Familiarity with crystallographic software (e.g., CCDC suite, BGMN, Profex, Olex2).
• Experience with HPLC, LC-MS, UV/Vis, and/.
• Strong cross-functional communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience with crystal growth and related concepts such as supersaturation and nucleation.
