Role Description The Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Olympia, WA. This role is responsible for managing, monitoring, and optimizing EDI transactions and interfaces between PSW and its partners, including health plans, providers, and other healthcare entities. Daily tasks include reviewing EDI files for accuracy, identifying and resolving transaction errors, coordinating with internal teams and external partners to troubleshoot issues, and documenting EDI processes and workflows. The EDI Specialist will collaborate with operations, IT, and business stakeholders to improve business processes, ensure data integrity, and support regulatory and contractual requirements. The role also involves maintaining current knowledge of EDI standards, testing new implementations, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts in population health and value-based care operations.


Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong Analytical Skills to interpret data, identify trends, and support process improvements.
  • Candidates should possess expertise in Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), including healthcare EDI standards (e.g., X12, HIPAA transactions) and integration practices.
  • Candidates should possess Troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve EDI transaction issues, system errors, and workflow problems.
  • Candidates should possess Customer Service skills to effectively support internal teams and external partners, responding to inquiries and issues in a professional manner.
  • Candidates should possess Business Process understanding to map workflows, optimize EDI-related processes, and align technical solutions with operational needs.
  • Relevant experience in healthcare, health plans, or provider organizations, particularly in value-based care or population health, is beneficial.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams are required.
  • Familiarity with EDI software, data mapping tools, and basic database concepts is preferred; experience with SQL or similar query languages is a plus.
  • An associate or bachelor’s degree in information systems, healthcare administration, business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience, is preferred.
