Our client is seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Accounting Specialist to join their growing team on a 3-month contract to hire basis. This candidate will report to their Senior Accountant. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys a balance of daily transactional work and collaborative support. The ideal candidate will have strong Accounts Payable (AP) experience, proficiency in SAGE, and the ability to contribute to Accounts Receivable (AR) and broader accounting functions. This role is 100% onsite in San Francisco and the pay is $80,000 - $85,000.

The ideal candidate will have strong Accounts Payable (AP) experience, proficiency in SAGE, and the ability to contribute to Accounts Receivable (AR) and broader accounting functions. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accounts Payable (Primary Function – 60%)
- Process high-volume vendor invoices accurately and on time.
- Match purchase orders, packing slips, and invoices. (3-way match)
- Set up new vendors and maintain vendor records in Sage.
- Manage weekly payment runs (ACH, wires, checks) and reconcile discrepancies.
- Communicate with vendors to resolve payment issues and maintain good relationships.
Accounts Receivable:
- Prepare and send customer invoices and statements.
- Monitor aging reports, follow up on outstanding payments.
- Record customer payments and reconcile receipts in Sage.
General Accounting Support:
- Assist the Senior Accountant with month-end close tasks including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
- Maintain organized digital and physical files.
- Prepare supporting documentation for audits or external reporting.
- Collaborate with other departments on expense tracking and budget support.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3–6 years of accounting experience, including strong AP ownership.
- Experience using Sage (100 or X3 preferred), some training will be given.
- Solid understanding of GAAP and the accounting cycle.
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred but not required.
- May be tasked with lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 25 lbs., if able to do so.
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and walk/stand for moderate periods of time.
- Must be able to bend at the knees and waist frequently
- Must be able to repetitively use a telephone and a computer mouse and keyboard.
