Welcome to Pruett’s Market! We are a 3rd-generation, locally owned independent market nestled atop beautiful Signal Mountain. Our Specialty department has a deep passion for connecting our neighbors with refreshing, innovative, and hard-to-find brews. We aren't an impersonal grocery chain—we are a community hub with a pour for everyone, from local IPAs to rare seasonal finds.
We’re looking for a knowledgeable, approachable Beer Buyer to curate a world-class selection, manage our rotating draft list, and lead an incredible craft beverage experience for our community.
What You’ll Do:
- Curation & Buying: Scout and procure a diverse, exciting selection of local, regional, and international craft beers, ciders, and seltzers.
- Draft Line Management: Run day-to-day operations for our draft beer bar, ensuring lines stay clean, kegs are rotated, and the "on-tap" menu stays fresh.
- Merchandising & Storytelling: Design eye-catching displays, keep the beer cave stocked and tagged, and share the stories behind breweries and hops to get customers excited.
- Financial Accountability: Drive category profitability by managing inventory, monitoring margins, hitting sales targets, and minimizing shrink.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Partner with our Cheesemonger and Specialty team to create delicious pairing guides and promotional events.
- Operational Support: Receive deliveries, manage stockroom storage, and support adjacent Specialty areas (wine, chocolate, coffee, and events) as needed.
What We’re Looking For:
- Product Knowledge: Deep familiarity with beer styles, flavor profiles, and current craft beverage trends (Cicerone certification or equivalent experience is a big plus!).
- Customer Service & Leadership: Warm, outgoing personality with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate and guide team members.
- Business Savvy: Solid decision-making skills to manage inventory, delegate tasks, and purchase smartly based on sales data and customer trends.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and safely lift 50 lbs (handling cases and kegs).
- Requirements: Must be 18 years of age with availability to work at least one weekend day.
