Hospice Registered Nurse (RN) – Weekend On-Call
Schedule: Friday 5:00 PM – Monday 8:00 AM (Every Weekend)
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Hospice Registered Nurse (RN) to provide weekend on-call coverage. In this role, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centered hospice care during after-hours, responding to urgent clinical needs, supporting families, and ensuring comfort and dignity for patients at end-of-life.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Provide on-call hospice nursing support during weekend hours
- Triage patient and caregiver calls and perform in-person visits as needed
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and implement care plans
- Manage symptoms and provide pain control and end-of-life care
- Provide compassionate support to patients, families, and caregivers
- Deliver care and support at time of death when needed
Care Coordination
- Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, and facility staff
- Communicate changes in patient condition promptly
- Educate families and caregivers on care needs and expectations
- Provide backup support to additional on-call staff as needed
Documentation & Compliance
- Complete timely, accurate clinical documentation for all encounters
- Ensure compliance with hospice regulations and documentation standards
- Maintain patient records reflecting current condition and care provided
Leadership & Support
- Delegate tasks to Hospice Aides in alignment with care plans
- Provide guidance to aides, caregivers, and facility staff

- Strong patient and family satisfaction
- Full compliance with hospice regulations and standards
- Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia or compact nursing license
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (acute care, LTC, or related setting)
- Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred
- Hospice or home health experience
- Prior on-call or after-hours nursing experience

- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Knowledge of hospice philosophy and end-of-life care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle emotionally sensitive situations with professionalism and compassion
Work Environment
- Patient care provided in homes and long-term care facilities
- On-call environment with variable pace and urgent situations
- Exposure to infectious diseases and end-of-life scenarios
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (with or without accommodation)
- Frequent travel within the service area
- Ability to respond to patient needs during extended on-call shifts
