Position Overview
Protouch Staffing is seeking an experienced Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) for a day contract opportunity. This role is responsible for performing comprehensive sleep studies, ensuring patient safety, and delivering high-quality diagnostic care in a clinical setting.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) certification required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification - AHA
- Titers - MMR, Varicella, HepB
- Vaccine TDAP
- TB Skin Test or Chest Xray
- Experience with Home Sleep Test setup/scoring
- Proficiency with Natus Sleepworks
- Experience working with pediatric & adult patients
- Active RPSGT certification
- Minimum of 2 years of recent, hands-on experience as an RPSGT
- Strong knowledge of sleep disorders, diagnostic testing, and treatment interventions
- EPIC charting
- Ability to perform and evaluate complex sleep studies across diverse patient populations
- Physical capability to lift up to 75-100 lbs and carry up to 30 lbs as needed
- Analyze recorded sleep study data in accordance with current AASM standards
- Score sleep/wake stages using professionally accepted guidelines
- Identify and score clinical events, including respiratory events, cardiac events, limb movements, and arousals per established protocols
- Generate accurate, detailed reports by tabulating clinical data; communicate findings, results, and treatment outcomes with physicians
- Provide Quality Assurance (QA) feedback for each study and support staff education when improvement areas are identified
- Successfully complete monthly Inter-scorer Reliability Exams in compliance with system standards
- Deliver safe, competent, and patient-centered care appropriate to all age groups served
- Collaborate with department leadership to support patient care, satisfaction, service recovery, and issue resolution
- Provide in-service training, assist with staff education, and support orientation of Sleep Lab personnel
- Monitor and score polysomnograms during patient exams and prepare comprehensive summaries of clinical events
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all patients, including pediatric and psychiatric populations with specialized needs
- Perform complex diagnostic procedures and specialized testing activities
- Prepare for and conduct overnight sleep studies, including reviewing patient records, physician orders, and testing protocols
- Interview patients to assess medications, sleep habits, and factors impacting study outcomes
- Communicate effectively with physicians and leadership to clarify orders and provide updates on patient status
