Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with experience in medical dermatology to join a growing rural dermatology practice. This role focuses on delivering high-quality, evidence-based dermatologic care while building meaningful patient relationships and improving access to dermatology services in underserved communities.
Responsibilities
- Perform dermatologic evaluations and full-body skin exams
- Diagnose and treat common and chronic skin conditions
- Identify and manage precancerous and cancerous lesions
- Perform dermatologic procedures, including biopsies, cryotherapy, and lesion removal
- Develop treatment plans and prescribe medications
- Educate patients on skin health and treatment plans
- Maintain accurate EMR documentation and ensure HIPAA compliance
- Collaborate with supervising physicians and clinical staff
- Participate in ongoing dermatology-focused education and training
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree from an accredited NP or PA program
- Active North Carolina NP or PA license
- New graduates are accepted (must have prior RN experience in Dermatology minimum 4 to 5 years)
- National certification (AANP/ANCC for NP or NCCPA for PA)
- Minimum 1 year of dermatology experience (medical dermatology preferred)
- Strong diagnostic reasoning and procedural skills
- Excellent communication and patient education abilities
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Dermatology certification (DCNP or equivalent) or willingness to pursue certification
- Experience performing dermatologic procedures
- Familiarity with dermatoscopy and EMR systems
- Interest in rural healthcare and long-term patient relationships
