Position Overview: Medical Billing Assistant
This role reports directly to the Billing Manager and plays a critical part in ensuring our services are reimbursed accurately and fairly. Health insurance companies often deny or underpay claims—your responsibility is to investigate these discrepancies and advocate for proper payment.
Location: Largo Satellite Office
This role must work Mon-Fri, 8:30a-5:00p, out of our Largo office. If you're unable to work out of the office, please do not apply. There will be times where you may be the only person working in the office, so must be able to work independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Make outbound calls to insurance companies to understand claim denials and underpayments, and actively work toward resolution and payment
- Maintain and manage a tracking system for denied or underpaid claims, including all required documentation
- Collaborate with internal teams to support patient care and ensure timely resolution of billing issues
- Communicate clearly and professionally with insurance representatives, team members, and other stakeholders
- Ask questions and seek clarification when needed to ensure accuracy and efficiency
- Take ownership of conversations with insurers, including escalating to supervisors when necessary
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (not required)
- 1 year of experience in healthcare and/or office environment
- Strong communication skills—both verbal and written
- Excellent time management and ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously
- Critical thinking skills and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate and follow up in a timely, professional manner

Pay: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour
