Scope
The Mechanical Designer provides 3D computer-aided design models utilizing Solidworks 3D modeling for the packaged mechanical systems by reviewing component submittals and engineering documents. The Mechanical Designer creates submittal documentation, fabrication drawings for the fabrication shop, and As-Built drawings.

This person must be proficient in Solidworks 3D modeling and will be responsible for laying out and designing piping systems for both mechanical HVAC and plumbing. You must be self-motivated, look to develop their role and improve efficiencies throughout all processes and increase technical knowledge and abilities.

Responsibilities
Mechanical System Layout and Design
- Participate in submittal kickoff meetings.
- Review contract documents for requirements of packaged system.
- Review ProPak quotation for scope of work of packaged system.
- Review equipment submittals provided for each packaged system and understand
- Review PID/1-line diagram/sequence of operations prepared by Engineering and understand how to incorporate the requirements with the equipment provided within the 3-dimensional space of the project.
- Create 3D model of packaged system taking into account space restrictions, maintenance requirements, and connection locations. Account for the requirements and components of electrical and control design, and (when applicable) include enclosures, ductwork, and other components required by the project.
- Create submittal drawings including front/side/top views, isometric views, section views, details, etc.
- Create Bill of Materials drawing identifying major components.
- Participate in project kickoff meetings.
- Create fabrication (build) drawings for structural steel bases.
- Create weld fabrication drawings including spool identification, weld ID, dimensions, and other required items for weld fabrication.
- Create assembly drawings for skid including equipment location, spool assembly locations, and supports.
- Provide updated as-built model and drawings based on red-line documents provided by shop.
- Develop and improve processes as the company continues to grow.
- Work with engineering and production staff to improve communication and efficiencies.
- Learn the engineering basics for hydronic systems.
- Learn electrical & control system basics.
- Understand sequence of operations
