Work Environment: Production / Shipbuilding / Welding Operations

This position supports welding operations by expediting productivity and quality improvements, coordinating assigned projects, and providing technical and hands-on assistance to production trades personnel.

The role serves as a key liaison between Production, Welding Engineering, Design, and other company functions, helping resolve technical issues and implement improvements to welding processes, equipment, materials, and procedures.

• Expedite implementation of productivity and quality improvements in welding operations.
• Coordinate assigned projects from initiation through implementation.
• Support equipment purchases, testing, modifications, and implementation.
• Assist with development of training programs and design changes.
• Provide technical and hands-on assistance to Trades personnel.
• Support implementation of automatic welding systems and introduction of new materials.
• Assist with job planning and equipment setup.
• Troubleshoot problems encountered during implementation.
• Coordinate movement of required equipment and materials.
• Serve as liaison between Trades, Welding Engineering, Design, and other company functions.
• Facilitate communication between Engineers and Production teams.
• Inspect weld quality produced by the production team.
• Evaluate welding processes and recommend improvements related to:
  • Efficiency
  • Quality
  • Safety
  • Welding technique
  • Consumable monitoring
• Track quality metrics and communicate quality concerns to Engineers.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years of production welding experience.
• Knowledge of ship construction methods.
• Knowledge of welding processes and equipment.
• Knowledge of applicable welding and quality procedures.
• Excellent communication skills.

• NNS Apprentice School graduate.
• Experience operating automatic welding processes.
• Experience supporting welding productivity and quality improvement initiatives.
• Experience working directly with production trades and engineering teams.

• Fiberglass hard hat
