About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Project Development Manager to lead the planning, design, and pre-construction phases of major new construction and modernization projects for the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).
This is a senior-level role responsible for overseeing scope, schedule, budget, and overall project success across multiple complex capital improvement projects. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with deep technical expertise and the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate pre-construction activities for new school and modernization projects
- Manage scope, schedule, budget, and overall project delivery
- Resolve complex planning, design, and construction-related issues
- Supervise and direct Assistant Facility Development Managers, Design Managers, and design professionals
- Track and report project budgets, schedules, risks, and milestones
- Review projects through all development phases and assess progress and performance
- Coordinate with utility providers and government agencies
- Support A/E contract development, bid planning, and procurement
- Review consultant scopes, fees, and payment applications
- Provide oversight for scheduling, cost control, quality control, and contract administration
- Coordinate with internal LAUSD departments and site teams
- Develop internal policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Must Meet Minimum Requirements to Be Considered
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years managing the planning, design, construction, and coordination of capital projects
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management from an accredited college or university
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with new construction and modernization projects
- LEED and/or CHPS project experience
- CEQA and agency approvals experience
- Public-sector procurement and delivery methods
- Strong communication and community engagement skills
- BIM experience
- Formal Construction Partnering experience
Preferred Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Architect (CA) or Professional Engineer
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
- LEED Accredited Professional

Pay: $170,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
