Position Summary
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) provides occupational therapy services under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. The COTA collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to help patients achieve optimal functional outcomes and independence.
Qualifications
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Illinois under the Illinois Occupational Therapy Practice Act
- AOTA membership or eligibility preferred
- Strong clinical skills across a variety of patient populations and diagnoses
- Current CPR certification
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass criminal background check and drug screening
Essential Responsibilities
- Review patient information and assist with treatment planning
- Deliver evidence-based occupational therapy interventions as established in the plan of care
- Complete accurate documentation and communication regarding patient progress
- Monitor patient response to treatment and communicate outcomes to supervising therapist and care team
- Maintain professionalism, empathy, and excellent customer service
- Collaborate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members
- Participate in quality improvement and team development initiatives
