Special Education Teacher | Shelbyville, Tennessee

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year, located near Shelbyville, TN. This role focuses exclusively on providing direct and indirect support minutes to a caseload of approximately 23 students—including a student learning Braille—without case management duties. You’ll join a collaborative educational team dedicated to delivering individualized instruction and fostering student growth.

Key Qualifications:

• Active, valid Tennessee Educator License issued through TNCompass
• Acceptable license tiers: Practitioner License (Initial 3-year standard or alternative/job-embedded pathway license) or Professional License (Standard 6-year advanced license)
• Hold at least one of the following active TDOE Special Education endorsements:
  • Special Education Interventionist (K-8): Mild-to-moderate disabilities
  • Special Education Interventionist (6-12): Mild-to-moderate secondary education
  • Special Education Comprehensive (K-12): Severe/profound/multiple disabilities
  • Special Education Early Childhood (Pre-K-3): Early intervention focus

Your Responsibilities:

• Provide direct/indirect support minutes as outlined in IEPs
• Work with a diverse student group, adapting instructional strategies to individual needs
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to implement accommodations and modifications
• Maintain accurate documentation on services provided
• Support one student in the process of learning Braille

This contract offers a competitive hourly rate. The assignment is full-time, 37.5 hours per week, beginning as soon as possible and tentatively ending May 26, 2027.
