A contract opportunity is available for a Physical Therapist specializing in school-based therapy, located in McKeesport, PA. This role focuses on providing expert physical therapy services to students aged 3 to 22 at a specialized educational facility serving visually impaired children, with occasional consultation for adult clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and assess student development, gross motor function, and orthopedic factors impacting participation in school activities.
- Determine the need for adaptive equipment, managing all aspects from communication with parents and staff to equipment fabrication, purchase, maintenance, and necessary documentation including letters of medical necessity.
- Develop and implement individualized physical therapy treatment plans, including aquatic therapy when indicated.
- Maintain thorough documentation for evaluations, treatments, IEPs, re-evaluations, and progress reports.
- Collaborate regularly with the educational team to integrate best practices and monitor student progress.
- Provide consultation and training to families, classroom, and residential staff regarding therapeutic activities, positioning, and student needs.
- Supervise physical therapist assistants, aides, and student therapists in compliance with state regulations.
- Participate in team meetings, staffing sessions, clinic appointments, and professional development in-services.
- Coordinate with medical staff concerning therapy prescriptions and recommendations.
- Perform other related duties as needed.
