A contract opportunity is available for a Physical Therapist in a specialized school setting located in Canonsburg, PA. This role focuses on providing therapeutic services to students ages 3-22 with visual impairments, as well as consultation to adult clients as needed. The position offers a unique chance to work in a supportive educational environment dedicated to facilitating student development and participation in school activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and assess student development, gross motor function, and orthopedic concerns, emphasizing school activity participation.
- Determine the need for adaptive equipment; manage communication and coordination related to fabrication, adaptation, purchase, maintenance, modification, and documentation, including letters of medical necessity.
- Develop and implement individualized physical therapy treatment plans, including aquatic therapy components.
- Document all evaluations, treatments, and educational materials thoroughly for inclusion in student records, IEPs, and progress reports.
- Collaborate with educational teams to apply best practices in student programming and track progress.
- Provide consultation and training to families and staff (classroom and residential) concerning therapeutic activities, positioning, and specific needs.
- Supervise physical therapist assistants, aides, and student therapists in compliance with Pennsylvania state regulations.
- Participate in team meetings, staffings, clinic appointments, and professional development sessions.
- Consult with medical personnel regarding physical therapy directives and recommendations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Physical Therapist with experience working in school settings or with pediatric populations.
- Strong assessment and evaluation skills, particularly related to gross motor function and orthopedic issues.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, families, and medical professionals.
- Experience in adaptive equipment management and documentation.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Familiarity with Pennsylvania state regulations concerning PT supervision.
