Physical Therapist - School Setting in Sumter, SC

Degree in Physical Therapy, active Physical Therapist license and 1 year of Physical Therapy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Key Qualifications:

• Active Physical Therapy (PT) license in the state of South Carolina (required)
• Previous experience in school settings or working with pediatric populations is highly preferred
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to engage with students, school staff, and families
• Ability to adapt therapy plans to meet the unique needs of students across various grade levels
• Reliable transportation and flexibility to travel between multiple locations (itinerant position)

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver onsite physical therapy services for K-12 students across several school buildings
• Assess student needs, develop treatment goals, and implement individualized therapy plans
• Collaborate with teachers and related service providers to facilitate educational access and participation
• Document student progress, maintain compliance with IEPs, and complete necessary school district reports
• Educate staff and families on physical therapy strategies and student support techniques
• Attend relevant IEP and team meetings as required during the academic schedule

This full-time, 37.5-hour per week contract runs from July 27, 2026, to May 24, 2027, following the school calendar. You’ll have the chance to work onsite only, gaining valuable school-based experience and making meaningful connections with a diverse student population.
