Compliance Director

Overview

A rapidly growing real estate organization is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Affordable Housing Compliance Specialist to support its expanding portfolio of tax credit properties across multiple states. This role will play a critical part in ensuring regulatory compliance, managing file reviews, coordinating inspections, and maintaining accurate state program data.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and approve tenant files for tax-credit compliance

• Handle annual tenant recertifications

• Research and maintain updated income limits and program requirements across multiple states

• Track and update compliance data in internal systems

• Prepare for and manage state compliance inspections

• Respond to inspection findings, deficiencies, and corrective action timelines

• Work closely with property managers to resolve documentation issues

• Assist with rebuilding the internal compliance department

• Coordinate with traveling compliance support staff

• Ensure properties remain fully compliant to avoid penalties and violations

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Extremely detail-oriented and organized

• Comfortable with data entry and documentation review

• Enjoys regulatory research and working with rules-based systems

• Strong independent worker with minimal supervision

• Professional confidence dealing with state agencies and inspections

• Calm under pressure during audits and deadlines

Preferred Background

• Prior experience in Affordable Housing / LIHTC Compliance

• Experience in file reviews, certifications, inspections, or HUD-related programs

• Property management compliance exposure a plus

Candidates with direct affordable housing experience will be prioritized, but transferable skills will absolutely be considered.
