About the Role
We’re seeking a skilled Benefits Accounting Analyst to join our team. This position is responsible for the accounting and administration of all benefit plans, including union and non-union programs. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, deep accounting knowledge, and the ability to manage large data sets and reconcile complex benefits information with precision.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage accounting and administration of union and non-union medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA, HSA, and COBRA plans.
• Reconcile benefit payments to the General Ledger, track pending adjustments, and report differences to Accounting and Management.
• Validate vendor interfaces and ensure data accuracy across systems.
• Prepare COBRA deposits, cost center entries, and audit reports.
• Lead internal and external benefits audits — coordinating with Legal, Accounting, and Auditors.
• Create and maintain reports on benefits enrollment, payroll deductions, demographic data, and accruals.
• Ensure HRIS system data is accurate and compliant with plan documents.
• Support inquiries related to benefit plans using plan documents and summary descriptions.
• Collaborate with the Benefits Manager on system updates, annual enrollment, and new plan implementations.
• Identify and implement process improvements to drive accuracy and efficiency.
Required Qualifications:
• Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting, analysis, and reporting related to Benefits Administration (union and non-union).
• Experience reviewing contracts, plan documents, and union agreements.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret large data sets, identify trends, and present findings.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables required; Macros a plus).
• Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with SAP HRIS systems or similar HR/Payroll platforms.
• Prior experience supporting benefit audits and financial reconciliations.
