Job Overview
The Quality Manager is responsible for leading and developing the site’s Quality team and ensuring adherence to corporate quality policies. The primary objective of this role is to prevent nonconforming products from reaching customers by driving strong internal quality systems, continuous improvement initiatives, and effective quality metrics management.
This role focuses heavily on internal quality, while also supporting supplier quality processes related to vendor-supplied parts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Quality department toward organizational goals through effective communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
- Drive continuous improvement using Lean tools to identify problem statements, root causes, and corrective actions for customer, internal, and supplier issues.
- Develop and implement containment, corrective, and preventive actions, ensuring proper documentation.
- Manage the internal audit program, ensuring audits are completed on time and findings are documented within the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Oversee supplier corrective action processes (SCARs), including coordination with purchasing, supplier audits, and verification of corrective actions.
- Lead and develop Quality Engineers and Inspectors, including mentoring on audits, root cause analysis, and quality metrics.
- Ensure quality equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and compliant with requirements.
- Perform statistical analysis for process capability, verification, and validation of internal and external processes and equipment.
- Measure and analyze cost of quality (prevention vs. failure) and promote a preventive quality culture.
- Improve first-pass yield and reduce scrap through data-driven decision-making.
- Assess risk, prioritize quality initiatives, and ensure critical actions are completed on schedule.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support data sharing and quality alignment across teams.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of machining, assembly, production control, and manufacturing operations.
- Expert understanding of the product lifecycle and business planning requirements.
- Proven leadership and project management experience.
- Strong background in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience promoting and enforcing workplace safety standards.
- 5–10 years of experience in quality or operations leadership roles.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems and related software.
- Demonstrated use of root cause analysis tools such as 8D, 5 Why, and structured problem-solving methods.
- Experience working with Quality Management Systems (QMS).
Preferred / Desired Experience
- Experience with SAP (S/4 preferred but not required)
- Experience with QMS platforms and CRM systems
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (preferred)
- Background in Lean Manufacturing environments (TPS exposure is a plus but not required)
