seeking an experienced, professional Private Chef for a private family residence in Crested Butte, Colorado.

This is a long-term position for someone who values exceptional food, discretion, organization, and the opportunity to work in a beautiful ski town. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable preparing elevated, restaurant quality meals and simple, healthy everyday food.

The position is based in a remote Colorado mountain community, so private housing is provided as part of the compensation package.

The Role

The Private Chef will be responsible for preparing two meals per day, five days per week, along with meal preparation to ensure the household has convenient, high quality options available outside of scheduled service days.

Menus should be thoughtful, varied, fresh, and tailored to the family’s preferences. We are looking for someone who understands that private chef work is different from restaurant service: consistency, flexibility, discretion, and knowing the household’s preferences are just as important as culinary skill.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare two fresh meals per day, five days per week
• Create customized weekly menus based on household preferences
• Prepare additional meals, snacks, components, or grab-and-go items for off days as needed
• Grocery shop and source high-quality ingredients
• Maintain an organized, clean, and well-stocked private kitchen
• Manage pantry, refrigerator, freezer, and household food inventory
• Accommodate dietary preferences, allergies, guests, and changing schedules
• Prepare meals for occasional guests and small private gatherings
• Handle food purchasing and kitchen-related expenses responsibly
• Maintain exceptional food-safety and cleanliness standards
• Coordinate directly with the household regarding menus, schedules, travel, and entertaining

Ideal Candidate

• Professional culinary experience required
• Private household or private-chef experience strongly preferred
• Broad culinary range with an emphasis on fresh, healthy, high-quality food
• Comfortable preparing both elevated meals and simple family-style dishes
• Highly organized and capable of independently managing a private kitchen
• Flexible and comfortable adapting to changing household schedules
• Professional, polished, dependable, and low-key
• Comfortable living and working in a remote mountain community
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Strong professional references required

Household activities, family members, guests, travel, property information, photographs, conversations, and all other private information must remain strictly confidential.
