Role Description
This is a part-time on-site role as a Caregiver at Private In Home Care in Yorktown, VA. The Caregiver will be responsible for assisting the client with activities of daily living and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for the client. The client is non-verbal and will require constant supervision. The caregiver must be able to communicate with the child via ASL (American Sign Language).
Qualifications
- Must have previous experience in caregiving roles such as home health aide, nursing assistant, or similar positions is required.
- Must have previous experience in caregiving for children with multiple disabilities.
- Must have previous experience in working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) and Other Health Impairments, such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is required.
- Must have experience in working with children with behavioral challenges and sudden outbursts.
- Experience in working with children with a speech impairment, such as non-verbal communication.
- Must have the ability to communicate in American Sign Language.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting the client.
- A compassionate, caring, and patient demeanor with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR Certification is required.
Responsibilities
- Assist the client with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Assist the client with incontinence by maintaining a routine of toileting with timed voiding or prompted voiding. Use absorbent products such as pull-ups.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Provide patient care and support in a private residence.
- Monitor clients' overall well-being, reporting any changes to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of living spaces to ensure a safe environment for the client.
- Engage the client in social activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
- Provide direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities and ensure their needs are met compassionately.
- Uphold HIPAA regulations by maintaining confidentiality regarding patient information.
