What are the responsibilities and job description for the Male Peer Role Model – Student Support Companion UTSA position at Private family?
Are you an energetic, compassionate UTSA student who enjoys trying new things and making meaningful connections? We’re seeking a Peer Role Model to spend time weekly with a fellow Roadrunner — a high-functioning student with Autism — to explore campus life and the San Antonio community together.
What You’ll Do:
- Spend ~2 hours per week engaging in fun, inclusive activities like:
Attending UTSA games or events
Going to the gym, park, or pool
Visiting Dave & Buster’s, Six Flags, or other local spots
- Be a consistent, positive presence and social companion
- Encourage confidence, independence, and new experiences
- Model respectful communication, patience, and empathy
What We’re Looking For:
- Current UTSA upper classman in good standing
- High energy, reliable, and genuinely caring
- Patient and open-minded, with strong interpersonal skills
- Prior experience with neurodiverse individuals is a plus, but not required
Requirements:
- Must provide 3 personal or professional references
- Must pass a background check (paid by employer)
- Commitment to confidentiality and respectful conduct
