Position Summary
This position reports to the Lead Billing Specialist and provides end‐to‐end billing execution across all products and customer types, including standard commercial and E‐Rate customers. Responsibilities include accurate order entry, timely invoicing, proper cash application, and effective resolution of billing issues while maintaining compliance with internal controls and billing policies.
The Billing Specialist ensures accurate billing for fiber transport, Ethernet, Hosted Voice/OneVoice, Managed Services, and E‐Rate funding programs , while being fully cross‐trained to provide redundancy, consistency, and continuity of billing operations.
- Key ResponsibilitiesBilling Execution & Order Entry : Perform accurate order entry, establish charges, validate service activation dates, ensure billing aligns with agreements.
- Monthly Billing Operations : Generate/review invoices, resolve discrepancies, support billing close deadlines.
- Cash Application & Payment Research : Apply payments, research discrepancies, coordinate with Collections.
- Billing Research & Adjustments : Handle inquiries, prepare credits/rebills, maintain audit‐ready documentation.
- E‐Rate Billing Support : Perform invoicing, ensure compliance, coordinate with E‐Rate specialists.
- Cross‐Functional Coordination : Partner with Sales, Service Fulfillment, Customer Care, Collections, and Accounting.
- Controls & Continuous Improvement : Follow policies, support audits, recommend process enhancements.
- Qualifications2 years of billing experience in a complex, high‐volume environment ( telecom or utility billing preferred ).
- Familiarity with automated billing applications (Salesforce, Sitetracker).
- Strong understanding of bill cycle management .
- Knowledge of E‐Rate billing processes and USAC requirements encouraged.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem‐solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
