The Opportunity
Are you an HR professional who thrives on human connection rather than just spreadsheets? Heavy Haul Solutions is looking for a hands-on, people-focused HR Coordinator to join our team in Spartanburg, SC. This is not a "sit behind a desk" position; it is a "walk-the-floor, know-your-people" role where you will serve as the primary HR presence for our drivers and operational staff.
You will be the heartbeat of our employee experience—building trusted relationships, solving real-time problems, and ensuring our team feels supported every day. While you lead the on-site efforts, you will also have the backing of an external HR consulting firm for expert-level support on complex issues.
What You’ll Do
- Employee Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for all staff, providing guidance on policies, benefits, and workplace concerns through a consistent on-site presence.
- Onboarding & Life Cycle: Coordinate the full onboarding experience, manage I-9 and E-Verify compliance, and maintain meticulous employee records.
- HR Administration: Process payroll and employee changes, manage time and attendance, and assist with leave of absence administration.
- Benefits Advocacy: Act as the internal expert for benefit questions and process qualifying life events (QLEs).
- Compliance & Safety: Assist with OSHA reporting, support year-end processes, and ensure all employment practices meet regulatory standards.
- Trusted Communication: Support training initiatives and ensure HR updates are communicated clearly and effectively across the organization.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience: 1–3 years of HR experience; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Certification: PHR or SHRM-CP is a strong plus.
- Mindset: A strong customer-service orientation with a compassionate, approachable, and professional demeanor.
- Skills: Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multitask and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication: The ability to translate complex HR policies into relatable, easy-to-understand information for a diverse workforce.
